Position Summary

The Project Engineer reports and is responsible to the Project Manager. The Project Engineer’s responsibility is to support the Project Manager and the Project Superintendent in order to complete the Work on schedule, within the budget and to the quality of workmanship specified. The Project Engineer protects and promotes Skepton’s interests in all matters.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Project Manager in the initial set-up of each project, which includes administrative files, submittal logs, registers and recording of documents
  • Establish with the Owner and Architect procedures for communication, correspondence, approvals and meetings
  • Have a complete and thorough understanding of the Contract Documents, Sub-contracts and Purchase Orders
  • Receive, check, transmit, and process all submittals for approval in an expeditious manner
  • Initiate and respond to any correspondence necessary in connection with the processing of submittals for approval
  • Attend the Project Superintendent’s weekly coordination meeting at the direction of the Project Manager and record the meeting minutes
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of Bid Packages, during the bidding period and with the distribution of the bid documents as required
  • Assist the Project Manager and the Project Superintendent in refining and updating the Project Schedule as required
  • Issue and log Requests for Information
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of Proposal Requests, Change Order Proposals and Change Orders
  • Manage the coordination of engineering details including the preparation of coordination drawings, mock-ups and samples
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of reports for the Project Owner and Skepton Management
  • Manage the close-out process as it relates to operation and maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, warranties, Owner’s stock, consent of surety to final payment, training sessions and final waiver of lien
  • Maintain good relations and communication with the project team
  • Maintain accurate logs for each project including subcontractor/vendor change order logs, owner change order logs, RFI logs, back charges, in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintain as-built drawings for each project; this includes posting RFI’s, ASI’s and other clarifications
  • Other duties, assignments or special projects as assigned

Education And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional computer skills (MS office suite are minimum level required)
  • Ability to learn new systems is required
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
